Special PreBeginner Stakes
We are delighted to announce that Sue Maddox and her Bernese Mountain Dog Lily have qualified for the Southern Semi Final of the Kennel Club Good Citizen Special PreBeginner Stakes which will take place in October at Discover Dogs at The ExCel Centre in London. Sue won this hard fought for place by competing in one of the few Heats that take place at Obedience shows during the year. We all wish her the very best of luck and hope she gets through to the Grand Final which takes place at Crufts 2016 at The NEC in Birmingham.
Jane is very proud to announce that Lennie (Ludgate Power 'n' Glory CD Ex, UD Ex, WD Ex, TD Ex, Nov Ex) has won his first Working Trials Challenge Certificate. This was won at the North West Working Trials Society trial near Knutsford in Cheshire in February of this year. A truly nail biting occasion as there was an equality of marks for first place necessitating another track in terrible conditions of sleet, rain and strong wind to decide the winner. Lennie completed another superb track to take the top spot. This win qualifies him for The Kennel Club Working Trials Championships to be help in the Midlands in October.
Southern Semi Finals
Huge congratulations to Sue Maddox and Lily. They won the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme Special Pre Beginner Stakes at Warlingham DTC Open show, thus securing their place at the Southern Semi Finals at Discover Dogs in October. They also gained third place in Pre Beginners. Very well done!

Tracking Dog Challenge Certificate
On the 1st October 2016 Jane and Lennie won the Tracking Dog Challenge Certificate at the Poole & District Championship Trial which took place on The New Forest over five days. This is Lennie’s second CC which not only earns him a place at the Kennel Club Working Trial Championships in 2017, (this is the equivalent to Crufts for Working Trial dogs) but also gives Lennie the title Working Trials Champion. His full name is now Working Trials Champion Ludgate Power ‘n’ Glory Companion Dog Excellent (CD Ex), Utility Dog Excellent (UD Ex), Working Dog Excellent (WD Ex), Tracking Dog Excellent (TD Ex) Obedience Class A Excellent (A Ex)
He continues to compete in Obedience where he successfully works Class B and C and has qualified for the National Obedience Class Finals 2016.
The pictures show some elements of the tests, ie. the speak, behind the windbreak, the slow pace heelwork across the trackway and the six foot scale.
- Update Nov 2017 -
Having won a Challenge Certificate to qualify him, in October 2017, Lennie took part in the 2017 Kennel Club Working Trial Championships. We were hugely proud to be there for a second time as it is really for the crème de la crème of working trial dogs nationwide. Lennie completed a difficult track on a field of rape, and a search square where he recovered the three and four articles respectively. The control and agility tests took place on the third day all of which he completed well enough to finish in qualifying marks, earning another TD Ex title and in 5th place overall. This is to be his last working trial; to bow out gracefully at nine years old, a Champion and placed in the Championships is about as good as it gets and I can ask no more of him….not sure he agrees! He will however continue his obedience career.

Special Pre Beginner Stakes
During 2017, Sylvia Moorhouse qualified both her dogs Belle and Marti for the Kennel Club Pre Beginner Stakes Semi Final at the Excel Centre in London. Both are Border Collies and Marti was just a whisker away from being placed high enough to go through to the final at Crufts 2018. Belle has done a lot of winning in Obedience classes during the year and as a result, Sylvia has won her way out of the classes that permit her to have another go next year!
